Tracey Hannah is the 2014 Australian National Champion
The Hutchinson UR Aussies, Mick and Tracey, were racing in Bright this weekend for the Australian National Championships. The track was very dusty and dry, creating very slippery conditions.
The weekend started off great with Mick and Tracey both setting the best times in the seeding run on Saturday. Tracey lead her seeding by more than 35 seconds and Mick putting 7 seconds into his fellow racers.
On Sunday however, Micks race run didn’t go to perfection; He was really pushing his limits and although he felt great on his bike all weekend, he knew he had to give it all he had to take the win. Unfortunately he crashed and got his bike caught up in a tree and tape stuck in his cassette. This made him loose some precious time and he ended up crossing the line in 5th, 12 seconds away from Troy Brosnan, the new Australian Champion.
Tracey was also having some great fun on her bike and beat her other female opponents by more than 35 seconds on the race run! She is therefore going to be wearing the Australian flag on her race sleeves this year too! Tracey is really proud of this result and can’t wait for the first world cups to come along so that she can show that National Champion sleeve to her fellow world cup racers.
